Date: circa 1950 Size: 45.5 x 62.75 inches. This oversized poster was issued in France for a Laurel and Hardy film called. Pack Up Your Troubles. Released in 1932, it was a World War I military comedy written by H. Walker and directed by George Marshall & Ray McCarey. It stars Laurel and Hardy, a comedy double act popular during the early Classical Hollywood era of American cinema. The team was composed of thin Englishman Stan Laurel (18901965) and heavyset American Oliver Hardy (18921957). They became well known during the late 1920s through the mid-1940s for their slapstick comedy, with Laurel playing the clumsy and childlike friend of the pompous Hardy. Takes place in 1917 Stan (Stan Laurel) and Ollie (Oliver Hardy) are drafted into the American Expeditionary Force to fight in World War I. This poster has most likely been folded for the last 50+ years. It is in good shape but has definite fold lines which will flatten when framed. With its beautiful colours and fantastic mid-century modern style, it is a spectacular tribute to poster art, film, and the staying power of two classic comedians.
