Most of the Hungarian posters, which were produced before 1990, were designed by famous Hungarian artists. These posters are uniquely designed and have particular looks. They were multiplied by presses. Hungarian posters before 1990 differ from the official American / West-European editions. The reason: Before 1990, Hungary was a communist country. As a result, cinemas could only exist under national control and governance. The national salariats and the appointed bodies decided which film could be shown and when. Especially western films were’watched’. This organization was the MOKEP (Hungarian State Movie Company). Due to this, in many cases the date of the Hungarian premier differs from the date of the American / West-European premier.
