Original 6 Sheet Poster – Elvis Presley’CLAMBAKE’ 1967. Up for sale is definitely one of the quintessential ELVIS PRESLEY movie posters to own – CLAMBAKE (1967). This is an ORIGINAL 6-sheet film poster. 6-sheet posters were made to advertise the film when it first came out. Movie theaters would order them and usually paste them up outdoors to attract attention. This poster was printed in four sections and would normally have been pasted up and destroyed. That’s one of the reasons 6-sheets are a scarce size as compared to the common one-sheets. One of the other reasons 6-sheets are rare is that only a few hundred were originally printed. This one survived undamaged and UNUSED. The poster is in AMAZING condition and the colors are PERFECT! This original 6-sheet is in solid Near MINT/MINT original condition. You won’t find a nicer one. It’s still in its original four sections folded as originally issued. The complete poster measures approximately 80×80 inches when displayed. They envy each other’s life and decide to switch places. So Scott pretends to be Tom and Tom lives it up pretending to be Scott. Scott meets Dianne who is trying to land a rich guy and when playboy James Jamison catches her eye, she asks Scott to help her snag him. Scott agrees to but finds himself attracted to her. Scott also decides to build a boat for a speedboat race that’s going to take place in the hotel but he’s using a new experimental chemical which doesn’t hold in water, which his father forbade him to use. The relative lackluster box office performance of this movie, combined with his desire to do more serious, less commercial films, meant that studios were no longer willing to guarantee him a seven figure paycheck for his performance. In her 1985 book, Elvis and Me , Priscilla Presley writes that by the time filming was to begin on Clambake , Elvis’s growing distress with the quality of his films led to a despondency accompanied by overeating that saw his weight balloon from his normal 170 lb (77 kg) to 200 lb (91 kg). Possibly due to this, Elvis appears overweight, tired and looks sick. A movie studio executive ordered him to lose the weight in a hurry, marking the introduction of diet pills to his already excessive regimen of medications. During this time, Presley was growing increasingly interested in religious studies and spirituality, and reading a great deal on the subjects. Colonel Tom Parker felt these pursuits were distracting Elvis from his performance, and while he ordered the singer to not read any books while the film was being shot, there is no evidence that Presley complied with the directive. Production was halted for nearly two weeks in the middle of filming when Elvis fell and hit his head in the mansion he was living in during the shooting, resulting in his suffering a mild concussion. _gsrx_vers_236 GS 5.0.3 (236).
