Lisogorsky Naum Moiseevich Cartoonist, poster artist In 1929, Krokodil published a drawing by Naum Moiseevich Lisogorsky, which the artist considers his birthday as a cartoonist. This is not entirely true, because already in 1927 he began his work in the Ukrainian press, and after moving to Moscow he regularly collaborated in Vechernyaya Moskva and Trud. Lisogorsky graduated from an art school in Odessa as a painter, but changed his brush to a satirical pen. He belongs to a cohort of publicists who immediately capture the original thought generated by teletype tape information. A call from the editorial office – and the artist is at his desk, and after two or three hours the drawing is sent to the zinc-printing plant to appear on the newspaper page in the morning. The muse of satire inspired our cartoonists even during the terrible war years. Lisogorsky was all the time at the front, working first in the newspaper of the 7th Guards Army “For the Motherland”, and later in the newspaper of the 2nd Ukrainian Front “Suvorov Onslaught”. On its pages, the artist organized the satirical section “Merry Katyusha”, which won great popularity among the soldiers. Merry Katyusha waited for happy days! Together with the troops of the front, she went on a swift offensive. Lisogorsky had to work at a pace that even the most experienced newspaperman could not dream of. As soon as he had time to hand over the sketches of the capture of Yass, it was already necessary to sketch portraits of the fighters who distinguished themselves in the battles for Chisinau. And then – the liberation of Romania, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia… On the front pages of the front newspaper, he placed portraits of heroes – soldiers and officers, and on the fourth page his evil caricatures of the Nazis flaunted. For about half a century, Lisogorsky has been working at Krokodil. Hundreds of his drawings are printed on the pages of the magazine. He is an experienced internationalist who knows a lot about Chamberlains and Adenauers, but at the same time he successfully fights against everything that slows down the forward movement of our country, taking aim at the enemies of the new life. He is never satisfied with the external scheme of caricature, but always strives to most convincingly reveal the very essence of the characters depicted, to penetrate into their psychology. Here he is helped by the work on friendly cartoons, which he loves very much. The artist never limited himself to emphasizing the purely external features of the face and figure, but each time he looks for seemingly inconspicuous features that help to reveal the essence of the human appearance. Characteristic is his caricature, depicting the leaders of the military-industrial complex. ” His drawing “South Rhodesian attraction” (“Crocodile , 1971). The artist depicted an English lion dutifully jumping through the ring of handcuffs held by the racist Smith. I remember the satirical ending to Lisogorsky’s album, elegant in design and very significant in content. On the spire of the famous Admiralty needle, the enemies who attempted to attack the Russian stronghold on the Neva – the Swedish king Karl, Yudenich, the demoniac Hitler – were impaled. Curious is his “Crocodile’s Rational Proposal”. Through the entire large reception room of director Grubiyanov, a corridor with a safety net is drawn, like in a circus at the time of the release of tigers, along which the boss walks importantly into his office, shaking his fists and swearing. Employees scatter in panic in different directions… On International Women’s Day on March 8, men feast at the table, and the heroes of the occasion, knocking off their feet, bring new treats to the table. The only responsibility that fell on the shoulders of men was raising toasts: To the health of our dear women! Lisogorsky is a sincere and conscientious artist. In his striving to make the caricature the most expressive and intelligible, he sometimes turns out to be too verbose, introducing a number of unnecessary mustache details and strokes. But on the other hand, in his works there is always a sharp thought, and he clearly prefers stinging drawings on a significant topic to cheerful trinkets. The entire war was spent at the front and the professional crocodile Naum Lisogorsky. As part of the editorial board of the Guards Army newspaper “For the Motherland”, he marched with units of the 64th Army from the Don to Stalingrad. In the liberated hero-city, he had a chance to make a curious sketch in the basement where General Paulus was captured. This is a portrait of the commissar of the 38th motorized rifle brigade L. Vinokur, under whose leadership the leader of the siege of the Volga stronghold was captured. In the same place, in Stalingrad, N. Lisogorsky made a commemorative drawing They wander from Berlin to Siberia. Skinned, miserable, German prisoners, former gallant participants in the failed Hitlerite blitzkrieg, trudge under escort. Lisogorsky also took part in the successful offensive of our troops in the area of the encircled, but never surrendered Tula.
