Perry Gallery & Auctioneers. Original Vintage French Movie Poster “Courage, Fuyons” by Savignac 1979. 63X47.2 inches (160x120cm). Courage – Let’s Run (or Courage fuyons) is a French romantic comedy film directed by Yves Robert. Martin Belhomme is a coward since his birth, also home cowardice is passed from generation to generation. After a childhood spent in the tumult of the Occupation, he “is married” with Mathilda who will decide everything : they will have two children and he will become a pharmacist, even if he vowed a passion for music. But after this monotonous life, occurs in May 68, and cowardice will paradoxically lead him into a crazy adventure, far from home, with Eva, beautiful blonde singer in a cabaret of Amsterdam. Therefore, he will make every effort to seduce the beautiful, and pass for an adventurer to her eyes. Raymond Savignac, often just abbreviated to “Savignac”, was a French graphic artist famous for his commercial posters. He was born on November 6, 1907 in Paris, and died on October 31, 2002 in Trouville-sur-Mer (Calvados), aged 94. His work is distinguished by a humorous simplicity. This poster appears on page 170 in “Savignac Posters” Book published by Forney. The Collection of Israel Perry. The ratings described below represent generally accepted standards for assessing the condition of a poster. A’+’ or’-‘ may further explain the condition of a particular item. Posters may be found on linen or Japan paper backing, with an acid-free adhesive. A+ (Excellent): This is a perfect example of a poster rarely seen in such excellent condition. A to A- (Very Good): This is a poster that is in excellent condition. The colors are fresh, and there is no paper loss. It may have a slight blemish or tear, but this is very marginal and unnoticeable. A- indicates that there may be some slight dirt, fold, tear, or bubble or other minor restoration, but most unobtrusive. B to B+ (Good): This describes a poster in good condition. It may have a slight paper loss, but not in the image or in any crucial design area. It may have some restoration, but this is not immediately evident. The lines and colors are good, although paper may have yellowed (light stained). B+ designates a poster that is in very good condition. B to B- (Fair): This is one in fair condition. The latter determination may be caused by more substantial than normal light staining or one or two noticeable repairs. C+ and Below: This describes a poster in poor condition. The light staining may be more pronounced, the restoration, folds, or flaking are more readily visible, and possibly some paper loss has occurred. But for this, the poster is otherwise intact, the image is clear, and the colors though perhaps faded, are still faithful to the artist’s intent. A good part of such a poster may be missing, including some crucial image area: colors and lines so marred that a real appreciation of the artist’s intent is difficult, if not impossible. What is Linen Backing. Linen Backing is a way of conservation that is employed with vintage posters to display or frame them without diminishing their value. Linen backing and restoration revitalize damaged posters and keep them from incurring additional damage. A linen backing allows the poster to lie smooth and flat so that it is a simple matter to handle it, frame it, or store it. The reason our items arrive safe and sound is due to proper packaging. Items that come with different elements, such as glass porcelain and sets, will be individually wrapped. Online tracking is available. This item is in the category “Art\Art Posters”.
