The Alhambra Theater, also the Alhambra Cabaret, the Alhambra variety show was a Prague theater and night club with a cabaret program. The theater hall is located in the second basement of the building of today’s hotel. Originally, the building in which the hall is located was called the Passage Palace. In 1924, it was united with today’s Ambassador Hotel. Access to the arcades in the left part of the building is shared with access to the former Pasaz cinema. Before the Pasaz Palace was connected to the hotel, the address was Wenceslas Square no. 11, now Wenceslas Square no. The hall served its purpose even after the reconstruction. Between 1974 and 1981, an extensive reconstruction took place here. The Alhambra Theater was opened in 1913, reopened in November 1914, it was one of the luxurious Prague establishments, intended primarily for foreigners. Modern dances were danced in his hall, as one of the first. At this time (in 1954), the director Pavel Smok also introduced the dance revue Pozor foto! The theater newspaper from 1964 appreciated, thanks to Smok’s direction, the night shows in the Alhambra “highly above the European average”. In the 1960s and 1980s, a number of well-known artists such as Ctibor Turba, Jan Rohac, Vlasta Pruchova, Pavel Liska (singer), Jiri Krytinar, Lenka Filipova performed or otherwise worked in the Alhambra. The Alhambra Ballet was invited to entertainment programs of the Czechoslovak Television, took part in the filming of the film If a Thousand Clarinets. After 1990, the hall served as a strip club (Wiki). If you have any questions about offered items or anything else, feel free to ask us, you will be very welcome!
