Up for sale is a rare, oversized original 1967 theatrical release movie poster for the cinematic masterpiece, Gone with the Wind. Unlike standard 27″x41″ US one-sheets or common consumer reprint posters, this magnificent piece measures an impressive 51″ x 37.5″. This format was strictly reserved for major theater lobbies and commercial promotion during MGM’s legendary 1967 grand widescreen presentation. It features the definitive, vibrant Howard Terpning artwork showcasing Rhett Butler (Clark Gable) holding Scarlett O’Hara (Vivien Leigh) against the iconic fiery backdrop of burning Atlanta. This is an absolute must-have centerpiece for any serious classic Hollywood collector, cinema room, or vintage decor enthusiast! Has some stains, and one small tear. This particular 1967 campaign was historic because it marked the very first time Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer blew the film up into a 70mm wide-screen format with stereophonic sound. Super cool & rare piece.
