A Guide to Movie Poster Conditions. Mint – A poster in Mint condition is essentially flawless. It will have no pinholes, tears, marks, fading, bleedthrough, etc. It should have no defects or blemishes whatsoever. It can be folded or rolled depending on how it was originally issued to the theater. A poster in this condition is extremely rare and thus commands top dollar. A poster in Excellent condition will have no major flaws but will show several minor ones on close inspection. The poster may have small pinholes in the border. Minor creases are normal in this condition. Tears, tape marks, etc. Are still not acceptable. There may be some very minor color fading. Writing on the back of the poster that does not bleed through is permissible. A poster in Fine condition may have an obvious flaw or two as well as several minor ones. Small tears and heavier creases may be present although the clarity and completeness of the artwork should not be affected. Small stains, small areas of paper loss, or some minor tape may be present. Writing on the front is permissible in this condition only if it is small and located in the border. A poster in Good condition will be heavily worn but still presentable. Larger tears and even small missing pieces may be may be present. Writing, pinholes, tape, etc. Some soiling or staining may be present. While the overall eye appeal will be affected, posters in Good condition should still be intact. A poster in Poor condition shows extreme wear. It may even be incomplete. Date: circa 1950 Size: 45.5 x 62.75 inches. This oversized poster was issued in France for a Laurel and Hardy film called. Pack Up Your Troubles. Released in 1932, it was a World War I military comedy written by H. Walker and directed by George Marshall & Ray McCarey. It stars Laurel and Hardy, a comedy double act popular during the early Classical Hollywood era of American cinema. The team was composed of thin Englishman Stan Laurel (18901965) and heavyset American Oliver Hardy (18921957). They became well known during the late 1920s through the mid-1940s for their slapstick comedy, with Laurel playing the clumsy and childlike friend of the pompous Hardy. Takes place in 1917 Stan (Stan Laurel) and Ollie (Oliver Hardy) are drafted into the American Expeditionary Force to fight in World War I. This poster has most likely been folded for the last 50+ years. It is in good shape but has definite fold lines which will flatten when framed. With its beautiful colours and fantastic mid-century modern style, it is a spectacular tribute to poster art, film, and the staying power of two classic comedians.
