This Lolita poster was created by Roger Soubie (1898 – 1984) for the 1962 movie based on the novel and screenplay by Vladimir Nabokov. The movie was directed by Stanley Kubrick and starred Sue Lyon as the 14 year old nymphet and James Mason as the middle aged college professor infatuated with her. Roger Soubie began his prolific career designing travel posters and went on to create over 2,000 movie posters in his lifetime. This version of the poster is prior to the addition of full text. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters. The vintage one-sheet was originally created in 1962 to advertise the release of Stanley Kubrick’s, Lolita, starring James Mason, Shelley Winters and Peter Sellers. This lithograph was re-created, in 2002, on a rare antique 19th century hand-pulled printing press in affiliation with the American Film Institute’s “100 American Classic Movie Posters”. This is the same printing press that was used to create the vintage posters over 100 years ago. There are only 5 of these antique presses in existence, today. Hand drawn plates are made, one for each colour, and then the plates are hand pulled through the vintage press one colour at a time. This is the exact same method that was used to create the beautiful vintage movie posters of the past. The result is vibrant rich colours and crisp clean lines. This is a true work of art.
