Original vintage poster in english, czech, russian, german, and french language. “THE MUSEUM OF PUPPETS”. Printed in: issued by Museum of Puppets in Chrudim, printed by Vychodoceske Tiskarny n. Condition report: poster was stored rolled, shows tears and creasing especially on edges and in corners, some stains especially near upper margin area, some yellowing and waves Historical context. The museum was opened on July 2, 1972 on the occasion of the 20th year of the Loutkarska Chrudim festival. The private collection of Prof. Became the backbone of the museum collections. Jan Malik, from the position of general secretary of the international puppetry organization UNIMA, also arranged for individual national centers of this organization to donate puppets and puppetry artefacts to the newly established museum. Throughout its existence, the museum’s collection expanded considerably. The museum focuses on collecting and processing documents about the development of Czech and world puppetry. It currently manages more than 50,000 collection items, including more than 8,500 puppets. In addition to puppets, the museum’s collection also includes stage designs, maquettes, backdrops, programs, photographs, sound recordings, printed materials, manuscripts, visual works with a puppet theme, posters and other archives. However, only a fraction is exposed. The museum also houses a library with about 18,000 volumes and a research center. Almost 40,000 visitors visit the museum annually (Wiki). Of all the Charlie Chan vintage movie posters we have acquired in the last 25 years, the most requested and in demand is the one sheet from ” Charlie Chan at the Wax Museum”. Not to mention one of the best Chan films, this one sheet movie poster is beautiful. Great artwork and vintage graphics. This gem is completely 100% UN-Restored and is in quite nice condition with just some minor splitting at cross-folds. That said, this is the best condition we have ever seen this poster in as most have missing pieces, severe staining, etc. The first one sheet from this title we have owned in about 10 years. This is one of the brightest examples we have ever seen, Spectacular Bright colors! Charlie Chan at the Wax Museum (20th Century Fox, 1940). One Sheet (27″ X 41″). Starring Sidney Toler, Victor Sen Yung, C. Henry Gordon, Marc Lawrence, Joan Valerie, Marguerite Chapman, and Ted Osborne. Directed by Lynn Shores. Sidney Toler stars in another adventure as the master detective Charlie Chan. Toler was the second Chan after Warner Oland’s untimely death in 1938 of pneumonia. He would go on to make the most entries in the series becoming perhaps the most popular of the series’s stars. Mystery and horror abound in a creepy wax museum, housing statues of such infamous murderers as Jack the Ripper and Bluebeard, run by a mad plastic surgeon (Henry Gordon). When a vicious gangster (Marc Lawrence) plots to gain revenge on detective Charlie Chan (Sidney Toler), the wax museum becomes a perfect venue for murder! An early Toler entry into this fine series, this memorable film is represented here by a colorful and attractive one sheet.
