Original vintage Polish movie poster Hair by Andrzej Pagowski 1980. Fantastic poster for musical lovers. Pagowski designed the poster for the musical by Milos Forman in his signature unique. If you see it, you know it’s Pagowski. The poster was never folded and was in excellent condition before linenbacking. The poster is in fine condition and displays well! Andrzej Pagowski is one of the greatest and most established Polsih poster designers. He’s considered to have pioneered the use of computers and digitized the art of traditional posters in Poland. The poster won several awards in international competitions: First Prize in the International Competition for Best Film Poster “The Hollywood Reporter 10th Annual Key Art Awards” in Los Angeles in 1981, First Prize at the California Museum of Science and Industry in the European category. Linen backing is a process of mounting a poster to Japanese Masa paper with acid free paste and the Masa paper is mounted to an acid free cotton canvas. Linen backing flattens the poster, preserves the poster and makes the poster more durable. Linen backing can dramatically improve the overall appearance of a poster and it can substantially increase its value. It is the preferred archival method for conserving and/or restoring a poster.

Rare Polish Film Poster. Actor / Director: Kinuyo Tanaka, Kyoko Kagawa, Eiji Okada, dir. Approximate Size 33 x 23 inches. Condition: Very good with a few short, closed edge tears. 1931 – 27 November 2013 was a Polish artist. Born in Katowice, Poland, he graduated from the Kraków Academy of Fine Arts in 1952. He was subsequently Professor in the University of Fine Arts in Poznan from 1965 and Professor in the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw from 1994. Swierzy is one of the Polish School of Posters’ most prolific artists, having created over 2500 posters. He employed unusual concepts with a variety of techniques, frequently mirroring Polish social history from 1950s through 1980s, with a myriad of styles: folk art from the 50s, pop art from the 60s, portraits from the 70s, and TV images from the 80s. In addition, his Jazz Greats series of famous American jazz personalities became so well known that he reissued them in his later years as signed lithographs. The series includes: Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles, Jimi Hendrix, Charles Mingus and Charlie Parker, among others. The lithographs were editioned by S2Art. The first group, which came out in March 2003, were of Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, Thelonious Monk, Benny Goodman, Miles Davis, and Dizzy Gillespie.
