Up for sale is a rare vintage the matrix original 1999 movie poster that’s embedded on a wood frame. This was a common thing video stores would sell back in the early 2000’s they’re hard to find these days. It’s in overall good shape but does have some damage shown in the photos. From a distance it’s not noticeable and looks very nice. But from close you can see the issues on the picture. It’s 34 inches in length. And 23 inches wide.

This post-apocalyptic vision, both nightmarish and hopeful, is a classic John Pitre work. Like Leonardo, Pitre is also an inventor, holding patents on a proprietary artist’s paint line and a range of exercise equipment. He is an accomplished pilot of helicopters and seaplanes and is knowledgeable about all things having to do with navigation and the sea. Born in 1942, Pitre began focusing on these ecologically- based themes in the mid-1960s. These wooden pieces seem to date from the early 1970s. His work, already in demand, had a huge resurgence after the events of September 11. I have attached a link from the artist’s website for those interested. The piece is in EUC with no warping, cracks, crazing or fading. It will need hanging hardware (easily available at any hardware store). The only possible issue I note is a tiny shadow or shallow dent in the upper right corner (as shown). This is a very distinctive work. It will command any space in which it hangs.
