Cuban movie posters were made using the handmade silkscreen process. Aesthetically, the paint, applied in thick layers gave these posters a unique texture that is closer to a painting than to posters. Artistically they are among the best designed in the world and many prizes were awarded to their creators. For more information about the history of Cuban posters and his artists, visit my page at. Tiempo de morir (Time to die), Colombian-Cuban co-production film Directed by Jorge Ali Triana. Rene Azcuy no name or year in this silkscreen. Azcuy had a period were he did not put his name in the poster as other designers did. Years after this poster he began putting a letter A following the year it was made. 20″x30″= 51x76cm. Original Cuban posters are becoming highly collectable and because of their scarcity many are being reproduced. We only sell original posters. This original poster belongs to a collection that was started by my husband’s grandmother in 1973 and it was brought by us to the Unites States from 1998 to 2012 in small batches, due to Cuban and U. S government restrictions on importing or exporting art from the island. Each batch was processed by the Cuban government entity Registro Nacional de Bienes Culturales de la República de Cuba that dates from 1998 to 2012 under my name and my husband’s name as permits to take the posters to the United States. I have links in my webpage with pictures of many of the receipts as proof of provenance. During more than 20 years I befriended many of the artists and collectors, read every book and article I could have my hands on and acquired the knowledge to stand by the authenticity of my collection. I will send you a Certificate of Authenticity issued by my art gallery Art of Cuba and signed by me. It will include the. Title of the poster, Year printed and the artist’s name with the image of the actual poster.
