Lot of two original 1981 Columbia Pictures promotional movie posters for the cult animated film Heavy Metal. Artwork by fantasy illustrator Chris Achilleos featuring Taarna riding the pterodactyl. Both posters measure 18×25 inches and were printed in 1981 for early promotional use tied to the film’s theatrical release. The first poster is the cleaner example with only mild yellowing along fold lines and no tears stains or tape. The second poster shows some condition issues including a few small fold line tears repaired with clear tape on the back and a faint water stain near the center fold. Both remain bright and colorful with vivid original artwork and no fading. These are the advance style posters with the Coming August 7th tagline. Great display pieces for any fan of 1980s animation sci fi or fantasy art.
